One of the benefits of research data that is more openly available is that you can discover and, in turn, use more of other people's data in your own research. The stated aim of Ontario Open Data is to make it easier for individuals, businesses, and researchers to access government data. To achieve this goal, the portal offers free access to a variety of government data in easy-to-use formats.
Ontario’s Digital and Data Directive states that all data must be open, unless there is a good reason for it to remain confidential.
